Today the economy has made another shift – from manufacturing to service.  As this transition has progressed, the
principles of the
traditional scientific management have given way to contemporary management.  

Contemporary management is based on teamwork. Employees are empowered (given knowledge) to attain goals and are
given the freedom to do so. Managers become coaches with the chief responsibility to provide an atmosphere that fosters
success and the resources to achieve these goals.
